Visit a Museum
There are several top-notch museums in Atlanta to explore on rainy days. Pick one of Atlanta’s fun museums and spend the day at play. Some museums offer family discount days or free days. See a Puppet Show
Take the kids to see puppets at the Center for Puppetry Arts‘ World of Puppetry Museum. Check out their Digital Puppet Shows and Digital Learning programs for fun virtual events. Spring show “Charlotte’s Web” is on view April 4-May 21.

Go Out for Ice Cream
One of the best types of family outings is a trip to the ice cream shop, where each family member gets to pick out a custom scoop. Check out our picks for best local places to grab a sweet treat with the kids.

Bounce It Out
Burn off energy and play with siblings or friends at an indoor park or play place. Multi-attraction parks have everything from trampolines and virtual reality to obstacle courses and climbing walls, and some have spaces or days specifically for younger ages.

Go Roller Skating

Go Shopping

Go Ice Skating
Lace up a pair of ice skates and do some laps around the rink – even a novice can master the basics and have fun. Try one of these locations: the Alpharetta Family Skate Center, Center Ice Arena in Sandy Springs, Ice Forum in Duluth or Kennesaw and The Ice in Cumming.

Gary Pirkle Playground
This playground is perfect for one of those days with constant drizzle, because the play structure is covered. It’s also great for sweltering days in July and August. Try out one of Atlanta’s indoor water parks for fun on a drizzly or sweltering day, too.

Play a Board Game

Marietta Fire Museum
This two-story museum is home to a horse-drawn pumper and a restored 1879 Silsby Steamer (one of only five in existence). Visitors can also view a 1949 Ladder Truck, originally one of the longest reaching ladders in North Georgia. The fire museum also has antique clothing and equipment, a “Wall of Flame” photo wall and other vintage fire trucks. 112 Haynes St., Marietta.
