The Lion King

Disney is offering “The Lion King” Experience, an immersive arts education program introducing students to theatre through “The Lion King.” The programs are divided into two, one for elementary school ages and middle school ages. The KIDS curriculum has 11 sessions for ages 8-11 and the JR. has 18 sessions for ages 12-15. Each session is around 45 minutes with a video, at-home activity, a creative project and journaling.

Atlanta Theatre Companies

You can still visit your favorite Atlanta venues with their online programs.

The Alliance Theatre is streaming their performance of “In My Granny’s Garden,” along with an at-home activity guide. Enjoy sensory storytimes with “Babies: Off Book.”

Aurora Theatre’s Digital Series virtual activities include Cody’s Crafting Corner, Aurora Storytime and Friday Funday. Watch Cyber Stage, a play reading event for professional actors of the Aurora Apprentice program, on Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m.

Center for Puppetry Arts @ Home includes daily puppet shows, puppet presentations and workshops.

The Dad’s Garage Social Distancing Spectacular has livestreamed shows, storytimes, podcasts, improv and more. Each day has specific programming from noon to 1 p.m. for kids, improviser shows from 1-4 p.m. and late night watching from 8-10 p.m.

Elm Street Cultural Art Village’s Elm Stream: The Arts Come to You includes storytimes, interviews, how-to’s and more with community members, actors and Lantern Series artists.

Serenbe Playhouse has Gone Digital with Workshop Wednesdays with Director of Education Cory Phelps and Throwback Thursdays with Associate Artistic Director and Director of Production Joel Coady. They are planning a Digital Play Festival.

Webber’s The Shows Must Go On shows a Webber musical each Friday. On May 8, stream “By Jeeves.” It will be available for 48 hours, so you can watch it over the weekend.

National Theatre is showing performances each week. Through May 14, watch “Antony & Cleopatra” with Ralph Fiennes and Sophie Okonedo. They have 30 productions available with a free trial through May 31, including Shakespeare adapted for younger audiences, and at-home activities.

See Broadway hits, such as “Swan Lake,” “Cats” and “Peter Pan,” on BroadwayHD with their seven-day trial.

Marquee TV has a 14-day trial period. Right now, they’re featuring Oscar Wilde and Shakespeare’s plays.

Shakespeare Online

Watch the Bard’s plays performed on-demand. Stratford Festival’s Stratford on Film has more than 10 plays available on demand. Watch YouTube premieres from Shakespeare’s Globe.
