Did you know? Alpharetta is the 12th largest city in Georgia and is known as the “Technology City of the South” thanks to the large number of tech companies that call the city home.

Downtown Alpharetta offers a casual, upscale atmosphere with plenty to do. The area features a large green space that is home to the weekly Farmers Market and other events. It’s also a great spot for the kids to run around and is adjacent to the splash pad. You can enjoy the library, as well as restaurants and shops all in a walkable area. Plus, there are two free parking decks to make access easier.

Aspiring chefs will love being in the kitchen at Flour Power Cooking Studios in Alpharetta. They offer child, teen and family classes, so the whole family can get in on the fun. Some classes are themed, like Italian Classics or Baking Buddies, so you can choose the type of foods you want to learn to make.

Known for Wacky World Playground (which is currently closed for renovations and reopening in spring 2026), Wills Park in Alpharetta is a family favorite. In addition to other playgrounds for younger kids, the complex has pavilions, ball fields, disc golf, a pool, tennis courts, equestrian center, walking trails, an arboretum and much more.

Get active and take in the natural environment at Big Creek Greenway. The 20-mile trail system connects Alpharetta and Cumming and is used primarily for walking, running, hiking, biking and inline skating. Dogs are allowed but must be on a leash.

For special occasion shopping, Janie and Jack at Avalon in Alpharetta has you covered. They have beautiful finds for the holidays and fun PJs for boys and girls. From babies to size 18, you can dress to impress.

From gifts to clothes and baby essentials to books, Piggy Jo’s at Halcyon in Alpharetta near Cumming has it all. They sell a variety of Jellycat plushies, which make great holiday gifts.

Little ones will love exploring Play Street Museum in Alpharetta. They can independently enjoy the fire truck, doctor’s office, store and more all sized just for them. The space also hosts parties and classes for preschoolers.

Toddlers will enjoy the stay and play option at Little Breaks in Alpharetta right on the line with Milton. The serene indoor play space offers drop-in options for flexible childcare, stay and play times for babies and parents, as well as a variety of classes just for toddlers.

For delicious barbeque and a lively atmosphere, try Smokejack BBQ in Alpharetta. Kids will love the variety of options on their dedicated menu and parents will appreciate the real ingredients. If you’re really hungry, you have to try the Holy Trinity!
