Five Oinks of Approval
for Charlotte’s Web
Horses, pigs, donkeys, sheep and chickens all played an amazing supporting cast in the Serenbe adaptation of E.B. White’s, Charlotte’s Web.
When my 8-year-old daughter, Micah and I arrived after a 45-minute drive south of Atlanta to Chattahoochee Hills, we realized we were in for a treat – the Serenbe property is beautiful and serene. We made the short walk to the outdoor performance area, where we were met by members of the cast, including Charlotte and Wilbur. Arriving 30 minutes early allowed us and other audience members to take pictures with the cast. We also purchased some food to feed the animals before taking our seats for the show.
Once the play started, the audience was engaged as we learned a song that we sang throughout the production. This rendition of the play was simply wonderful as it brought to light the gift and sacrifice of friendship. In addition, the chirps of the birds, the baa of the sheep and the oinks of pigs created a background melody that made this a “one of a kind” event. The audience was charmed by this “radiant,” “terrific” story that Charlotte “spun” of “some pig”!
Following the play Micah made a friend, 8-year-old Zoe. They had fun talking about the play and characters, while feeding the baby goats. The girls compared their favorite characters – Micah’s favorite was Wilbur the pig, while Zoe loved Templeton the rat!
Charlotte’s Web will forever be a memorable experience of friendship, loyalty and love!
