Activity: Firecracker Cookies
Happy Bastille Day! July 14 is a national holiday in France. It celebrates the beginning of the French Revolution in 1789, and French independence from the monarchy. We’re celebrating with – what else? – firecracker cookies! These cookies are easy to make and are a fun way to get some summer baking in with the kids.
What you need:
1 box French vanilla cake mix, (18.25 oz.)
1 tsp. baking powder
2 eggs
½ cup vegetable oil
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
½ cup red sprinkles
½ cup blue sprinkles
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Using a large bowl, mix together the cake mix and baking powder. Mix together eggs, vanilla and vegetable oil in a smaller bowl. Combine the two mixtures together in the larger bowl and then stir in sprinkles. Drop by spoonfuls onto a cookie sheet and bake for 10 minutes. When they are finished, let cool and then enjoy your colorful and tasty treat!
