What’s on the menu: Cheeky’s extensive menu is perfect for an easy family meal. The restaurant specializes in Latin America-inspired food, but has options to please the child who liked tacos yesterday but not today. Diners are surrounded by flat-screen televisions showing all the games. In warm weather, patio seating is available. The kids’ menu includes everything from tacos to grilled cheese, with numerous side dishes, but both my children ordered cheeseburgers with a side of French fries or rice. We started with a Trifecta of house-made guacamole, refried beans and queso ($9), calamari with jalapenos and chipotle cream ($9) and authentic pork tamales ($9). All were delicious, but the pork tamales served with salsa verde made me miss Christmas back home in Texas and the queso was eaten so quickly by my children that it was almost embarrassing. The menu has lighter fare including the Tipico salad ($10 grilled chicken, lettuce, pico, avocado and black bean puree) and Top Shelf tacos filled with pork belly, ahi tuna or skirt steak. A surprising hit were the Agave Chili Lime wings (six for $8). They were crispy and sweet and everyone at the table loved them.

Why the kids will like it: They can choose from American classics like a burger or wings, but also try calamari.

Why parents will like it: The restaurant has a laid back atmosphere with craft cocktails like the prickly-orange margarita ($9), made with prickly pear puree, fresh orange juice and basil or the P.Y.O.B. (Pour Your Own Beer) with local beer on tap. Also, the large menu makes Cheeky a really easy place to eat if you have a variety of appetites.
