This week take a step back in time and explore Georgia’s historic past.

History Comes Alive

The Center for Civil and Human Rights is an engaging cultural attraction in downtown Atlanta (adjacent to the World of Coca-Cola and Georgia Aquarium) that connects the American Civil Rights Movement to modern Global Human Rights Movements.  The Center’s inclusive, immersive and interactive experiences allow visitors of all ages to engage with dynamic stories. Sit-in at the lunch counter and experience what heroic protestors braved or stand face-to-face with Human Rights champions. The family guide includes information, puzzles and other activities to enhance your family’s visit. For more details, hours, and ticket information visit www.civilandhumanrights.org. Get social on Facebook and Twitter (@Ctr4CHR).

Bartow History Museum

Make history fun for you and your child at the Bartow History Museum. Here are three ways to do just that:

1. Fill ‘er Up at the newest feature exhibit. Gas stations have come a long way since the pump was invented! Hear the story of the service station, see a line-up of vintage gas pumps, and check out antique tools and fixtures from some of our old local stations.
2. Let the Bartow History Museum take your child back in time this summer. Tour the lands and legends of famous king and queens. Practice detective skills as you solve mysteries in the museum. Jump into a time machine, travel around the world, and visit the American frontier.  Camp options starting at $72 a session.
3. Get hands-on, with the ability to touch history! How interactive can you get? Touch the belongings of Cherokee and early Pioneer families. You can even shop at the general store and work a shift in a textile mill. For more details, hours, and ticket information visit www.bartowhistorymuseum.org. Click here to enter to win tickets.
