Robin Hood at Serenbe

June 2, 2017 - August 13, 2017

Our kids were cheering, “Hip, Hip, Huzzah!” well after we left the performance. “Robin Hood” is easily the most entertaining family-friendly play we’ve seen with the kids.

Peyton, 7, and Cricket, 4, were both enthralled. The play is set in the woods, where families are greeted by cast members. Popcorn and gold chocolate coins, as well as mimosas, can be purchased upon arrival. Families can sit together on benches or the kids can elect to sit on blankets up front. The cast interacts with the children and there is enough adult humor (not crass, just over heads of young kids) that parents or grandparents will enjoy the show.

The cast zip lines back and forth throughout the production and fight scenes are entertaining, not frightening. The show runs just under an hour and afterward, guests are invited to interact with the cast and participate in their own obstacle course. Because the show is set outside in the forest, there were no issues that sometimes arise when taking children to the theater such as darkness, loud sound systems or flashing lights.

Know Before You Go: A portable toilet and bug spray are provided, but taking care of both before you leave home is a good idea. The drive to Serenbe was close to an hour from North Atlanta, but the kids agreed that it was well worth it.

Enjoy the classic story of the man who steals from the rich to give to the poor. Characters will fly through Serenbe’s magnificent forest on a zip line, redistributing wealth as they go. June 2-Aug. 13. Showings 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Tickets: Adults, $20; younger than 12, $10.
