Pine Mountain Gold Museum

Just over 30 minutes west of Atlanta,  Villa Rica’s Pine Mountain Gold Museum is an AMAZING place for field trips and groups of all ages. On land once owned by the Stockmar family in an area known as Pine Town, the park offers the experience of gold mining using traditional techniques and gold pans. In addition to gold mining, visitors can also pan for gemstones from around the world. History tours at the Museum hike through the forest and into the ruins of the Stockmar family home site where guides explain the story of the Flying S ranch and the history of Georgia’s first gold strike and mining in Villa Rica.
