20th Anniversary of
Centennial Olympic Park
This Saturday, July 16, celebrate the 20th anniversary of Centennial Olympic Park with gold-medal winning athletes, food trucks, fireworks, and live performances. Listen to local music groups like Banks & Shane, Colby Dee, SEEiT Choir, and the A-Town A-List band. Athletes coming to celebrate include track legend Carl Lewis, a 10-time Olympic medalist; distance swimmer Janet Evans, a five-time Olympic medalist; and swimmer Amy Van Dyken, a four-time medalist. Gates open at 5 p.m. for the free celebration.

1 egg
¼ C. butter or margarine
2 tsp. water
Wilton Sugar cookie crystals
2 C. vanilla ice cream
Food coloring of your choice (this example uses blue)
*Makes about 10 sandwiches (20 cookies total)

Two Exhibits on the Games
that Changed Atlanta
The 1996 Summer Olympics is one of many redeeming qualities of Atlanta, and is still commonly mentioned throughout the city. The Atlanta History Center is a permanent exhibit on the ’96 Olympics that highlights the historical importance of the Games. The Center offers an extensive display of artifacts, photography, and America’s only complete collection of torches and medals. The Gwinnett Environmental and Heritage Center has a special exhibit through Aug. 20 that is full of memorabilia and artifacts from the Games. The Atlanta History Center tickets are $16.50 for adults, $11 ages 4-12. Tickets for the Gwinnett Environmental and Heritage Center are $13 for adults, $10 ages 3-11.
Ice Cream Festival at Piedmont ParkTwo Cool Ice Cream Festivals
This Saturday, July 16, Crooked Pines Farm in Eatonton is hosting their second annual Ice Cream Festival. Watch as different Backyard and Creameries try to win a blue ribbon in an Ice Cream Competition, take place in an ice cream pageant, and a popsicle stick building competition. Tickets are $5, kids under 3 are free. Also, save the date for the free Ice Cream Festival taking place the following Saturday on July 23 at Piedmont Park. Enjoy family fun activities like face painting, hula hoop contests, crafts, and live performances.
