Giant Panda Mornings: A Farewell Visit
Don’t miss your chance to see the pandas! Zoo Atlanta’s giant panda agreement with China expires this year, and while the pandas are expected to travel in the fourth quarter, there are no specific dates yet. Head to the Zoo early to visit with and say farewell to Yang Yang, Lun Lun, and the twins, with exclusive access to the public viewing area in the Giant Panda Conservation Center before the Zoo opens. Sept. 20, 21, 23, 27, 29 and 30, Oct. 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8, 8:30-9:3o a.m.
Boo at the Zoo
Atlanta’s favorite fun family Halloween festival! During the last two weekends of October from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., enjoy trick or treating, plenty of photo opportunities, themed entertainment and activities, costumed characters, and so much more. Costumes are welcome! Oct 19, 20, 26 and 27, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
Adventure Cubs
Kids ages 5 and younger will learn about a different animal monthly through a game, craft, story and sing-a-long. Sept. 19, Oct. 5 and 17, Nov. 2 and 21, Dec. 7 and 19, 9:30-10:30 a.m.
Twilight Trek
See what the Zoo’s animals do when humans are away! Take an after-hours tour with night-vision technology and and special activities. Oct. 10 and Nov. 1, 6:30-9 p.m.
Rise and Dine with the Animals
Enjoy a continental breakfast with an exclusive early morning view of the animals as they get ready to start their day. Sept. 28, Oct. 5 and 12, 8:30-9:30 a.m.
ZooDunit Mystery Series
This unique adventure for adults tests your crime solving skills in an after-hours tour of the Zoo. Sept. 20 and Oct. 11, 6:30-9 p.m.
Visit New Animals
If it’s been a minute since you’ve had a chance to visit the Zoo, you might not know that the animal kingdom has continued to expand with these new arrivals.
Rhinos: Dakari, a female southern white rhino arrived at Zoo Atlanta on Oct. 13, 2023, at the recommendation of Zoos and Aquariums Species Survival Plan. At the rhino complex, spot Zuri, the first southern white rhino calf born at the Zoo.
Willie B. III: The male western lowland gorilla was born on April 24, 2023, and he is the grandson of the legendary late Willie B. Look for his troop in Gorilla Habitat 4.
Olivia: This two-toed sloth was born on June 18, 2023. Look for the sloths at the BrazilianOutpost.
Chilean Flamingos: The Chilean flamingo flock is one of the most successful in North America, and two flamingos hatched in early Sept. 2023. Unlike adults, chicks are gray, not pink–see if you can spot them in the Flamingo Plaza.
Bob: This male Sumatran tiger arrived on Nov. 29, 2023, and he represents one of the most endangered species at the Zoo.
Nangka: Born at the Sacramento Zoo on May 1, 2023, Nangka’s mother did not provide appropriate maternal care, so he was sent to join orangutan Madu at Zoo Atlanta, as she has an incredible track record with adopting orangutan infants. See them in the Asian Forest.
Zebras: Spot Wembe, a male plains zebra, at his mixed-species habit in the African Savanna. Imara, a female plains zebra, arrived on Dec. 27, 2023, as a social companion on Wembe.
