College Living Prep

Exceptional students entering grades six through 12 can advance academically, socially and behaviorally at the College Living Prep Summer Program. Students with high functioning autism, Asperger’s Syndrome, ADHD and other learning disabilities will receive personalized instruction in academics, personal development and social and independent living skills. The accredited education program applies toward high school graduation requirements.

In addition to challenging and relevant coursework, students will participate in a variety of enriching activities such as hiking, visiting some of Atlanta’s natural and cultural attractions, working on a community service project, and other opportunities. And they can explore career options by meeting with guest speakers representing a variety of exciting fields.

Classes are held Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. for six weeks from June 2 through July 11. School will not be held on July 4 .

Georgia Ensemble Theatre & Conservatory

All Summer Day Camps at Georgia Ensemble Theatre (GET) focus on two important goals: having a fun, rewarding, artistic experience & creating strong ensemble performances. In all camps, students work with professional theatre artists to learn both drama and life skills.

June 16-27 & July 7-18. In the Summer Conservatory, students work with 6 theatre professionals every day, honing their performance skills and styles. Workshops include puppetry, improv, costume design, stage combat, and more. Each camp ends with Demo Day where campers show off the new skills they’ve learned.

July 21-August 1. Performance Camp is for advanced students who have studied at GET previously. Campers work with senior GET faculty on all aspects of a production from audition to opening night. Rehearsals focus on acting, choreography, set construction, costume design, and more. This intense, fun two week camp ends with two performances for the public. The production this year is Seussical the Musical.

June 9-13. New this year is Characters of the Watershed, a one week camp co-offered with the Camp Kingfisher at the Chattahoochee Nature Center. Campers spend a half-day with a CNC Naturalist and a half-day doing nature-based creative drama with a GET Teaching Artist.

GoByk Black History Camp

Go Beyond Your Knowledge Black History Camp (GoByk) has for six years provided the rare opportunity for children grades K-5 to engage in activities that support and enhance their understanding of African-American culture and its importance in developing this country. The week-long sessions allow the children to nurture their sense of cultural pride through songs, stories, videos, and crafts. The program culminates with an electrifying and impressive performance by the children.

Younger kids love the program so much, we’ve added a middle school camp. This week-long program was added to nurture the teens’ sense of cultural pride through the creative exploration of Black economics, self-discovery, the arts and the sciences. Individual projects are offered to each student based on his/her personal interests.

Math Enrichment/Review has been added to refresh and enhance the math skills of the students. Basic skills, games and puzzles will be utilized to get the brain back in gear. This camp is offered to 3-5th and 6th-8th graders. Small groups will focus on specialized areas.

High Meadows Camp

Established in 1973 on 40 acres of farm and forest in Roswell, High Meadows offers campers a structured recreational program focusing on self improvement, personal responsibility, and environmental respect. In a relaxed, caring, and non-competitive atmosphere, each camper is encouraged to engage in new experiences and social relationships.

Each day, we welcome 300 children, from age 4-13, to our campus. Bus transportation is available from various locations in the north metro area. Groups are arranged by grade level, and generally have 12 - 15 children with two counselors. McGinnis Woods Country Day School

What are you doing this summer? Join us for McGinnis Woods Country Day School’s fun and exciting Wildcat Camp ‘08. Mark Trail Camp at Mill Springs Academy

The Mark Trail Camp program is entering its 27th year. It is designed to enhance self-esteem and the development of social skills. We strive to have all campers cultivate a sense of good sportsmanship, sharing and responsibility as they pursue interests and hobbies.

Each morning campers will have guidance to keep their basic academic skills maintained over the summer in the areas of math and literature. We will also sharpen and develop the campers’ computer skills. If your child has required summer reading or a summer math packet, Mark Trail Camp is a perfect environment to get these tasks accomplished successfully. A variety of group games will be played in the gym. In addition to these, we offer outdoor adventure programs. Our tennis program has been very popular.

In the afternoon, all campers have the opportunity to swim. Our swim instructor is WSI certified and sets up a variety of activities for each swimming group. Additionally, in the afternoon, campers will spend time in the art room. Our art teacher brings a wealth of experience with him and provides the campers with a different project to work on each week.

Roswell Budokan

Summer Aikido Camp at the Roswell Budokan is a unique way for your child to learn about the martial arts. We focus on the dynamic martial art of Aikido, a Japanese art that focuses on throws, locks, and pins achieved by using the opponent’s attack against them. Students learn to roll and fall safely, and will learn the basic elements of Aikido, as well as basic self defense and discipline. While we practice a martial art, we train with the philosophy that fighting is always the last resort.

Our summer camp goes beyond the physical training; we will also cover basic Japanese language, Origami (paper folding), Yoga, and other disciplines as well. We offer a traditional program where the main focus is the character development of the child, to push them to improve themselves, not focus on fighting others.

Safari Day Camps at Zoo Atlanta

Campers enjoy a wild adventure at Zoo Atlanta during our Summer Safari Day Camp held weekly May 27 to August 8. Children are grouped together based on their age. Camp focuses on different weekly themes about specific animals and their environments. Kids ages 4-13 have a great time creating amazing art projects, playing fun games, engaging educational activities and discovering lots of animals.
