Oh, Baby, Ain’t We Got Fun?

New parents searching for fun activities with their babies don’t have to look far. Metro Atlanta has plenty of places. Here’s a sampling, in alphabetical order.

Alliance Theatre: Theatre for the Very Young targets children ages 18 months to 5 years, offering a live performance, plus dance, music, movement and storytelling.

Aqua Tots: Its three locations in metro Atlanta offer swim lessons for ages 6 months and older.

Atlanta History Center: The Kid’s Corner lets parents and children explore history together, with hands-on activities. Magic Mondays, for ages 18 months to 5 years, includes arts and crafts projects and storytime.

The Children’s Museum of Atlanta: Of course, you’ll find a variety of activities for infants and their older siblings at a museum that specializes in creative and educational activities.

Dynamo Swim Club: Dynababies classes give parents and children six months to 36 months a heated pool and help getting baby comfortable in the water, learning skills such as kicking, blowing bubbles and reaching for toys.

Gymboree: Gymboree Play & Learn, for ages 0 to 5, has two classes for babies – one for ages 0-6 months that explores the senses and another for ages 6-10 months that offers more advanced play with slides, ramps and climbers.

High Museum of Art: Art becomes accessible to toddlers and young children through the museum’s programs for families. On Toddler Thursdays explore the High’s collection through letters, colors, numbers and shapes. The Greene Family Learning Gallery offers hands-on activities for pre-schoolers to age 10.

Jump Start Gymnasium: This locally owned Sandy Springs gym offers Just You and Me classes for ages 3 months and older; a Moving Monkeys class for ages 3 months to beginning crawlers.

Kindermusik: Children up to age 7 learn with music and movement. The Village classes are for newborns to age 18 months.

The Learning Groove: Several locations in metro Atlanta offer music and movement classes for infants to age 4.

The Little Gym: Locations in Smyrna, Johns Creek and Snellville offer gymnastics classes for babies as young as four months up to age 12. In the bugs program (ages 4 months to 3 years) parent and child participate in activities to build strength, muscle control and motor skills.

The Music Class: Children up to the age of 5 and parents sing, dance, move and learn to play instruments in classes throughout metro Atlanta (11 locations). Infant classes, for ages 0-10 months, focus on singing and musical fun.

Oh Baby! Fitness: Mom and baby can work out in 30 locations in metro Atlanta, with classes such as “Mom & Baby Pilates” and “Stroller Workout.”

Stroller Strides: This fitness program for mom and baby helps mom tone up while keeping baby happy with songs and activities.

Zoo Atlanta Stroller Cubs: Parents with children up to age 2 have opportunities twice every month to enjoy a guided experience tailored for parents and their young ones still in their stroller years. Each month offers a different theme.
