Playing in the mud has been a favorite activity of children for as long as we can remember. To celebrate the fun of a mud-filled, rainy day, we pulled this recipe for you to try.
What you will need:
1 cup of granulated sugar
½ cup of margarine or butter (melted)
1/3 cup of Gold Medal all-purpose flour
1/3 cup of cocoa
¼ teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoon of vanilla
2 eggs
1 cup of chopped nuts (if desired)
¼ cup of fudge sauce or fudge ice-cream topping
1 cup of chilled whipping cream
2 tablespoons of powdered sugar

Pre-heat oven to 325 degrees. Grease a round pan, 8×1½ inches, with shortening.

Mix granulated sugar, margarine, flour, cocoa, salt, vanilla and eggs in a medium bowl. Stir in nuts and pour mixture into pan.

Bake for 35-37 minutes, until edge appears dry and just to make sure it’s finished; insert a wooden toothpick in the center. If the toothpick comes out clean, you’re all set!

As soon as the pie is out of the oven, poke holes into the surface with toothpick and then spread fudge sauce over the top. Let cool.

Beat whipping cream and powdered sugar in a small, chilled bowl on high speed until stiff; spread mixture over fudge sauce. Drizzle with 2-3 tablespoons of additional fudge sauce and store pie in refrigerator. Enjoy!
