Nothing tastes better than a strawberry picked fresh off the vine. The season typically runs from mid-April to early June. Here are some of our favorite places within driving distance of Atlanta. Be sure to call or check the farms’ websites or social media pages for hours and to make sure strawberries are available.

Ecosystem Farm

Located in South Atlanta, this no-spray strawberry u-pick farm is on the smaller side. In spring, their fields are open by appointment for u-pick strawberries.

Elliott Farms

This family-owned farm is in Lizella, but worth a visit if you are driving that way. They offer u-pick events during the strawberry season and plan to be open daily; check their Facebook for updates. They also serve strawberry ice cream and offer lots of other fresh fruits and vegetables.

Dickey Farms

In the spring, this farm has u-pick and pre-picked strawberries through mid-May, as well as strawberry shortcake, strawberry ice cream, fritters and hand pies. On the weekend, pick up delicious smoked BBQ sandwiches. Shop the market and general store for more goodies, and kids will love the farm playground.

Fitzgerald Fruit Farms

If you live on the Southside, head to Woodbury to pick a bucketful of fresh strawberries. At The Shed, grab produce, strawberry or peach ice cream and more. For adults, taste their Sweet Strawberry Wine in the tasting room.

Jaemor Farms

Grab strawberries at Jaemor Farms (which is a combination of the owners’ names) in Alto, northeast of Gainesville is a farm full of fun. Their produce also includes blackberries, cucumbers, muscadines, corn, tomatoes and more. They also have a market in Commerce. Check back soon for updates on their u-pick strawberries, which will cost $5 for admission for ages 3 and older.

Lane Southern Orchards

This 100-year-old farm south of Macon is known for their peaches and pecans, but during April and May, they have strawberries. At the café and bakery, grab a pulled pork sandwich, burger, chicken salad sandwich, peach fritters and more. Their Strawberry Patch is open for picking early April through May.

LCCL Strawberry Farm

This family-run farm in Rome specializes in strawberries so they are only open during the season. With five acres of strawberries, get pre-picked strawberries, strawberry ice cream, strawberry jam, strawberry salsa and honey. They plan to be open through mid-June.

Mercier Orchards

Mercier Orchards

Head to Blue Ridge for Mercier Orchards’ Farm, which is open daily from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. On Fridays to Mondays, enjoy breakfast and lunch at the café. U-pick strawberries is currently not available, but they expect to start in May.

Mitcham Farm

You can pick your own strawberries at this cute farm in Oxford, 45 minutes east of Atlanta, or they have a Farm Market open 9 a.m.-6 p.m. from Tues.-Sat. or on Sun. from noon-6 p.m. for strawberry donuts, slushies, ice cream, jarred items, onions and more. Their Strawberry Festival will be held on April 29.

Moon Farms Strawberry Farm & Country Market

The Moon family has been farming in Colbert, just outside of Athens, for over 70 years. Now with the third generation running the farm, they plant over 25,000 plants that grow two different types of strawberries—Camarosa and Chandler. Get pre-picked strawberries from the farm, or you can pick your own.

Oakhurst Farm

The strawberry patch at Oakhurst Farm is open seasonally for u-pick and pre-picked berries, including strawberries.

Southern Belle Farm

Their 12-acre strawberry patch offers u-pick strawberries, and they also have an open farm market at this adorable farm in McDonough for pound cakes, strawberry shortcake, ciders, pickled peaches, honey and more. The Farm Market and Bakery will open on April 1, with u-pick expected to start in mid-April.

Taylor Orchards’ Strawberry Patch

This strawberry wonderland is part of Taylor Orchards, which is known for its Georgia peaches. About two hours south of Atlanta in Reynolds, people can visit The Strawberry Patch for u-pick or pre-picked. They also have a country store that carries favorites like jam, salsa and bread.

Warbington Farms

Just a north of Atlanta in Cumming, families can visit Warbington Farms. They have delicious strawberries, which are expected to be ready in mid-April. Enjoy “hey”rides, swings, an obstacle course and more.

Washington Farms

This farm offers u-pick and pre-picked options. For extra fun, visit on their “Super Spring Saturdays,” starting on April 23, where kids can play all kinds of games, jump on a big pillow, slide down slides of all sizes, pet animals and even sit in an extremely large rocking chair.

Whitley Farms

Families always enjoy visiting this locally-owned farm just south of Peachtree City in Sharpsburg for u-pick strawberries. Stop by the market for strawberries, elderberry syrup, jam and honey.

Strawberry Festivals and Farm Fun

Super Spring Saturdays at Washington Farms

Enjoy tons of farm fun, including a cow train, zip lines, the petting zoo, paintball and more. May 13 and 20.
