Activity: Father’s Day Box

Let the kids decorate a shoebox with torn paper, markers, glued-on decorations, etc.
Have the children add little tokens, toys, drawings, or anything else that they want their dad to keep close. Every Father’s Day, your children can add commemorative items to the box. Your kids will have something to look forward to year after year while the dads will enjoy looking back at all the mementos they’ve received. Try to make the gift-giving moment extra special by only opening the box once a year.

Make a “T-shirt to Melt his Heart” to include in the father’s day box. Dip your children’s hands or feet in paint and have them make a hand or foot print on the shirt. Write next to the prints either “I’m in good hands with Dad” or “I want to walk in Dad’s footsteps.” If you have more than one child, you can write, “We’re in good hands.” This could become an annual tradition, a clever way to chart the kids’ growth.
