Cool off from the summer heat with a fun filled day on the Chattahoochee River. Two-hour trips are only $10 and include a tube, life vest and shuttle service to and from the river.  Park for free at their location, 4349 Abbotts Bridge Rd, Duluth. Open 7 days a week, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. 678-349-6880;

at Tellus Museum

Meet your favorite science and science fiction characters this Sat., Aug. 13  from 6-10 p.m., at the Tellus Night at the Museum. Kids will receive a  book to collect autographs from people all throughout history and science. Learn how science made Tony Stark and the Wright Brothers famous, and get ready for laughs and explosions during the Tellus Madd Scientists Show. Tickets are $25.

¼ C Butter
2/3 C Powder Sugar
2 Small pkgs. (or 1 big pkg.) Vanilla Pudding Mix

Butterfly Encounter
at Chattahoochee Nature Center

No need for a kaleidoscope to see these beautiful colors at the Butterfly Encounter at the Chattahoochee Nature Center. Get up close and personal with hundreds of native butterflies and make sure you bring a camera to take pictures of butterflies as they try to land on your shoulders and nose. Kids can earn points by participating in scavenger hunts and bingo cards, and “purchase” things with their points. The exhibit ends on July 31. Wizard of Oz Train Ride

Experience the Wizard of Oz on a train ride with the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad. Join the characters on a ride to the Emerald City and help defeat the Wicked Witch of the West before you meet the Great and Powerful Oz. Rides are every Thurs.-Sun. with two event times at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. This experience ends on Aug. 7. Tickets start at $48 for adults, $38 for kids. 1-800-872-4681;
