Make Diversity Trail Mix

Today is Juneteenth, a day that commemorates the Emancipation Proclamation and honors African-American heritage. To celebrate this day of freedom and equal rights, teach your children about diversity while making your own trail mix. Choose three or more of these items: peanuts, sunflower seeds, almonds, raisins, dried cherries, dried fruit, chocolate chips, etc. to include in your snack. Mix together in a zip-lock bag and enjoy. Remind your kids that like our diverse society, trail mix has a mixture of several components that contributes to one delicious treat. Ready to explore nature? Go on a hike and point out the diversity of the forest while enjoying your snack.
