…and Other Yummy Halloween Fun Food

Here are some ideas to make your Halloween party spellbinding!

Jello Worms

Kids will go crazy over these life-like tasty worms. This recipe is simple and great for Halloween, April Fool's, or anytime you feel like snacking on wormy goodness! If you can make Jello, then you can make these cool looking worms.

2 packs (3 oz) Raspberry jello
1 pkg unflavored gelatin (for extra firmness)
3/4 cup whipping cream
3 cups boiling water
15 drops green food coloring
100 flexible straws (or enough to fill your container)
Tall container (1 quart or 1 liter carton of milk)

Combine gelatin in bowl and add boiling water.
Let it cool to lukewarm and then add the whipping cream and 15 drops green food coloring.
Gather your straws (don't forget to flex them out) and put them in the container. It's important that the straws have a tight fit so the Jello stays in the straws. For this reason, a 1 liter carton may be better; you will probably get longer worms since there is a tighter fit. If you have a bigger container, a rubber band around the straws is helpful. Or you could just add more straws to fill the container.
Add the gelatin mixture to the straw-filled container and let it set until firm.
There are multiple ways you can remove the worms from the straws. You can roll a rolling pin over the straws and squeeze them out or you can hold the straws over warm water. The worms will slip right out.
And voila! Jello worms are served.

Forked Eyeballs

2 (11-ounce) bags of white chocolate chips
12 doughnut holes
Semisweet chocolate chips
Tube of red decorator frosting

Melt white chocolate chips over low heat (and keep it warm while you work). With a fork, spear each doughnut hole and submerge it in the melted chocolate to coat, then gently tap off any excess.
Stick a semi-sweet chocolate chip with its point cut off onto each doughnut hole, cut end first. Place the forks (handle side down) in a mug and allow the chocolate coating to harden.
Use a tube of red decorator frosting to add squiggly veins radiating out from the pupils.

Cheese-Finger Food

Mozzarella string cheese
Green bell pepper
Cream cheese

Parents use a paring knife to cut each string in half and then carve a shallow area for the fingernail just below the rounded edge of each half.
Mark the joint right below the nail as well as the knuckle joint by carving out tiny horizontal wedges of cheese.
Slice a green bell pepper into 3/8-inch-wide strips. Trim the pulp so that it’s about half as thick. Then cut the strips into ragged-topped nail shapes and stick them in place at the ends of the fingers with dabs of cream cheese.

Bloody Hand Punch

Rubber gloves
Lemon-lime soda
Red food coloring and marshmallows

Soak rubber gloves in warm, soapy water, rinse, then turn inside out.
Fill with water.
Tie gloves at the end with rubber bands and put in the freezer overnight.
Fill a punch bowl with your favorite fruit juice or punch, then add frozen hands (just slide them out of the gloves right before the party). Punch can be made from clear lemon-lime soda with a few drops of red food coloring.
For an extra spooky touch, drip red food coloring over the hands and float marshmallows in the punch.
