Laurel
Park, Marietta
Features: In the heart of
historic Marietta, or Marietta City as the town boasts, Laurel
Park sits as a central point for recreational fun. With three
play sets, perfect for the tiniest of tots to the more
adventurous older kids, the playground area has something for
everyone. Children may enter the play area from the ground floor
of the sets or by a playful elevated walkway that leads directly
from the parking lot to the first set of slides. The smallest
area has two slides, one of which is a fun tunnel, and a
mid-sized area contains two more slides including a curvy one.
For those looking for bigger thrills, the central play area
contains a rock climbing wall, a large tunnel slide, an uneven
twisted slide and various towers to climb in and on. The
woodchip ground also holds three swing sets and an oval set of
monkey bars. Kids will think they are riding the teacups at
Disney World as they spin around and around on the playground’s
elevated merry-go-round.
Amenities: With three picnic
pavilions, a tennis center, two restroom facilities close by and
a lot of shade, the park makes playing outside enjoyable for
kids and parents. There is plenty of parking, and lots of space
for recreational games. Best of all, after the kids are done
playing on the playground, take them to the near by duck pond,
which is home to a number of birds and reptiles alike.
Directions: From I-75, take exit
265 to N. Marietta Pkwy. Go west 2.3 miles to Whitlock Ave. and
turn right. Follow Whitlock 1.3 miles to Manning Rd. and turn
left on Manning. Go 200 yards, and the entrance to the park is
on the left. The address is 151 Manning Rd. SW, Marietta. Call
770-794-5634 for more information.
