Yoforia

  What’s on the menu: Organic non-fat frozen yogurt and fresh fruits and nuts used as toppings. Available in original, green tea and pomegranate, the yogurt is made of organic nonfat milk and comes in 5-, 8- and 13-ounce portions. Seasonal fresh fruit toppings include various berries, banana, kiwi, mango and pineapple. Other toppings like nuts, coconut, granola, white chocolate chips, chocolate chips and breakfast cereals add crunch. Organic waffle cones and a few other snacks will be joining the menu this summer.

Why your kids will like it:It’s so yummy they won’t realize it’s healthy. Plus the colorful toppings make it more fun to eat. Also the stand-alone locations in Virginia-Highland and Alpharetta look more like space-age living rooms than a yogurt shop. And, what kid doesn’t like a sweet treat? Especially a cold one as the weather is getting warmer.

Why parents will like it:Each ounce only has 25 calories, so it’s healthy for the whole family (and won’t put a cramp in your get-ready-for-summer diet plan). And, the green tea yogurt has a grown-up taste that you won’t find at other frozen treateries. The nonfat confection also contains live cultures – a.k.a. good bacteria – which aids in digestion, so instead of feeling weighted down by your dessert, you’ll be ready to hit the bike trails or playground after your visit to Yoforia. It’s also fun to get your kids eating kiwi, pomegranate and granola on their dessert instead of cookies, whipped cream and sprinkles.

A small with three toppings is $4.50 and without the toppings, you’re looking at a tab under $3 per person.
