The ESPN Zone: Finding the Athlete Within

When you walk upstairs at this upscale sports bar and restaurant, little boys (and little girls who prefer softball to dolls) are bound to go wild from all the gaming action they’ll have the chance to try. ESPN Zone’s Sports Arena is a great place to spend the cold days of winter while still being active and athletic with the kids.

A favorite for kids of all ages is miniature bowling. With two lanes that multiple players can enjoy at a time, this activity is great for the whole family. Even the smallest hands can pick up the small (and surprisingly light) bowling ball and roll it down the alley. But beware: Before you get the hang of it, gutter balls are pretty common!

If your family loves the water, the kids will jump at the chance to get behind the controls of a speedboat or Jet Ski. Or better yet, they can water ski on the simulator – standing on an incline and jumping and twisting is a blast. There are also lots of racecar simulators if land is more your style.

With ping-pong, air hockey and a mini hockey rink that you can actually step inside and play in, there’s plenty to keep kids active. Football and basketball throwing games will give dad a break from playing catch so he can enjoy a beverage at the bar. The spacious room isn’t so big that you can’t keep an eye on your child, and handing a pre-paid card to your child prevents “I need more tokens” from being the chant of the day. (You can always add more points to the card as needed.)

The best thing about the Sports Arena at ESPN Zone is that all the games are sports related, so shooting guns and chasing bad guys isn’t something you have to worry about.
