Hannah’s Diary:
When I went to Hawaii, I had
a great time! Here are some of the things
that we got to do on this great vacation.
After a long plane ride, (about 10 hours
long) we were in sunny and warm Hawaii. I
saw and smelled beautiful, fragrant Palm
tree flowers.

Day 1:
My first morning there, we ate breakfast
with a view of the Pacific Ocean. After
breakfast, we took a surfing lesson. That
was my favorite part of the trip. I had
never surfed before and when I tried it, I
loved it! After the surfing, we rested a bit
and then went on a Catamaran called the
Maitai. Later we had dinner by the hotel’s
pool. Our hotel was right next to The Royal
Hawaiian, nicknamed the Pink Palace. The
hotel is all pink. It was movie star Shirley
Temple’s favorite hotel.
Day 2:
We swam with a dolphin at Sea Life Park. We
also watched a sea lion beauty pageant show.
The show was funny, and the two sea lions
were named Ms. Bahamas and Ms. Mexico. After
this we packed a lunch and ate at an awesome
beach, the water was so clear and warm. For
dinner we went to eat at the Holohai Grill,
they served us smoothies in coconut cups.
I liked that!
Day 3:
The next morning we had breakfast at the
Moana Surfrider Hotel, which is often called
the “First Lady of Waikiki.” After that, we
went to the airport to go to the Island of
Kauai, the oldest Island in Hawaii. It was
only an 18-minute plane ride. Right away, we
went to this awesome luau – it was on the
oceanfront and had a show with a hilarious
host. After that, we turned in for the
night.
Day 4:
The next morning we pounded Poi (a
traditional Hawaiian food, which doesn’t
taste half-bad), made a lei and went to an
old Hawaiian village called Kamokila. We got
to see how the ancient Hawaiians lived. Then
we took a short canoe trip up river, which
was fun. That night we went to a Japanese
Buffet – I tried the sushi for the very
first time, I had three pieces (it wasn’t my
favorite, but it is important to try new
things).
Day 5:
The next day we went to the Waimea Canyon.
It was cool, they had wild chickens running
around and we could see mountain sheep. Then
we went to Spouting Horn, which is like a
geyser, when a wave comes in the water
shoots up and comes out the hole. Then we
took a boat trip along the Napali Coast –
talk about something pretty. We saw sea
turtles, seals, mountain goats, beautiful
waterfalls, rainbows and best of all, we got
to go snorkeling. I saw tons of fish. They
all looked so cool “just minding their own
business.”
Day 6:
I went snorkeling again – of course, it was
fun! Then we went swimming at Poipu Beach.
Day 7:
We had to leave, and I was left dreaming of
a cold winter. I was so sad. This was, by
far, one of the best vacations of my life.
