Features: The playground at Cobb County’s Tramore Park offers an impressive array of features that test your child’s balance and agility. Of course, it contains several of your basic bridges connecting one section to the next, which offer little in terms of a challenge. However, the wobbly bridge that gives a little with each treacherous step can be more tricky than it looks. Once that’s conquered, a plastic incline allows adventurous little ones to climb up the east face (and, as it happens, the only face) of a “rocky” slope. Those who forgot their hand-chalk can get to the same place via the stairs. The ultimate climbing test at Tramore Park though is the nearly 90-degree wall with multi-colored hand and foot pegs. The six and a half-foot plastic mountain crag affords fledgling cliffhangers a unique view of the playground’s spirally towers… for the millisecond they’re at the top. Then it’s off to try out other fun stuff, like the many slides around the structure. There are straight slides, twisty slides, tubular slides and even a triple slide where you can race two of your friends to the ground. And for the toddler who loves to bounce, a spring pad is located a safe distance away from the big-kid action. Two activity panels, one planet- and one baseball-themed, along with a stretch of monkey bars round out the playground’s fun features. Amenities: The playground is adjacent to the soccer fields at Tramore Park, so there’s plenty of parking. Benches dot the outskirts of the playground so parents don’t miss any of the action. A covered picnic pavilion stands feet away from the playground. Port-a-potties are located nearby. Directions: Tramore Park is located at 2150 East-West Connector in Austell. From I-285 West, take the South Cobb exit and take a right off the exit ramp. Then take a left onto the East-West Connector and stay straight for 10-15 minutes until you see the Tramore Park sign on your right. – KG |
