Make your next
baby shower planning session a breeze with
these fun ideas that will make the mom-to-be
feel extra special.
Looks Good Enough to Eat
Diaper Cakes are a whimsical
yet practical decoration and gift for
expectant moms. These “cakes” are actually
made of layers of disposable diapers and
“iced” with ribbons and silk flowers. Diaper
Cakes are available in a variety of sizes,
styles and colors. Each cake is assembled by
hand and served on a silver platter.
Large diaper cakes are made
of about 100 diapers and retail for $112;
small cakes are $68 and contain 40 diapers.

-
Put a twist on the classic
lingerie shower decoration by hanging baby
clothes, onesies, baby socks, bibs, towels,
and more on a clothesline behind the chair
the mom-to-be sits in.
-
Use baby bottles to serve condiments like
ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise and salad
dressing. Cut off the tip of the nipple a little
bit for better flow.
-
Use pacifiers or teething rings
as napkin holders.
-
Use baby food jars as holders for votive
candles. Be sure to remove the labels and
wash them thoroughly. If you want to make
customized labels with the name of the
mom-to-be and the date of the shower, these
decorations can double as favors.
-
Use a baby tub as the punch bowl and then
let the mom-to-be take it home as a gift.
Place rubber duckies and other bath toys in
the “punchbowl” as well.
-
If the affair is a
luncheon, buy baby-care supplies
(lotion, shampoo, diapers, diaper rash
ointment, wipes, etc.) and place them in
the center of each table as
centerpieces. Tie a bunch of pink and/or
blue balloons to each set of supplies.
The supplies act as weights for the
balloons and the mom-to-be can take home
all of the items. It’s a great way to
help her stock the changing table!
