Sri
Thai Restaurant and
Sushi Bar
What’s on the menu: Traditional Thai fare, including
noodle dishes and curries, as well as an extensive
Japanese-influenced menu and a full sushi bar. A basket of
steaming hand towels for wiping your face and hands gets the
meal off to a relaxing start. For those who’ve never tried Thai
iced tea, it’s a sweet, caramel tasting drink sure to grow on
you. Most entrées are under $15, and many à la carte selections
are under $10.
Why your kids will like it: Not all kids are experimental
enough to try sushi, but the kid’s meal at Sri Thai makes that
first step easy. Their food arrives in a carved wooden boat and
includes chicken fingers, crinkle fries, 4 pieces of California
roll (sticky rice, avocado and cooked crab meat), as well as a
peeled orange with gummi bears as a treat. The chicken satay
appetizer (grilled chicken strips on a wooden skewer) is a
popular choice for many children; the delightfully sweet peanut
dipping sauce has been known to elicit wide-eyed expressions of
“Yum!” and is plentiful enough for a child’s meal with steamed
rice on the side. If you think your child will only eat
chocolate or vanilla ice cream, wait until they try the
delicious coconut, mango or green tea ice cream offered as
dessert. Better get your own because they won’t want to share.
Why parents will like it: We’ve been frequent visitors
over the years and never had a wait. The staff is friendly, the
service good, and the prices reasonable. Sushi can be an
expensive dining option, but Mondays and Tuesdays are dollar
sushi nights, which is important for budget-conscious families.
Bear in mind that Snellville does not allow beer sales on
Sunday.
