Jonesboro Battleground City Park
Features:
Battleground Park in Jonesboro is nestled behind
the historic Stately Oaks Plantation (the
inspiration for Tara in Gone With the Wind) and has
a little something for everyone. The fenced-in,
two-and-half-acre park features a large play
structure for bigger kids and a smaller set for
toddlers, a large open green space for Frisbee or
soccer, and a covered picnic pavilion. The
playground equipment includes five slides, a
suspended bridge, numerous ladders and fun
accessories. The play space also stays mostly shaded
throughout the day, which is a plus.
Amenities: Ample parking is provided, as are restrooms
and a water fountain. Benches and picnic tables surround the
playground. There’s also a landscaped walking trail. The
pavilion, which can be reserved for private parties, houses
about 12 picnic tables and includes two large charcoal grills.
Call 770-478-3800 for reservation information.
Directions: Battleground Park is located at 200 Lake
Jodeco Road. From I-75 South, take Exit 233. Turn right off the
exit onto Hwy. 54 South and follow as it becomes Main Street
into Jonesboro. Turn left on College Street and take an
immediate right after crossing the railroad tracks onto Lake
Jodeco Road. Pass Stately Oaks Plantation, and the park is just
beyond on the left in front of Suder Elementary School.
