What’s on the menu: Latin American cuisine is the specialty here, so you’ll find plenty of Puerto Rican, Cuban and Dominican dishes to satisfy hearty appetites. Order off the menu or cafeteria style from a changing line up of entrees which might include roasted chicken, beef stew, pork chops, stewed codfish and even more exotic fare like goat and oxtail. Each meat is served with rice, beans and delicious fried plantains. Why your kids will like it: The youngest patrons can get a kids-eye view of the day’s offerings. The food isn’t fussy or complicated – or too spicy for young palates. There’s also a cooler full of fun, fizzy Latin American sodas that will appeal to kids. Why parents will like it: The food is front and center here and there’s no disputing that the price is great. The lunch special is $4.99 for adults and servings are huge – more than enough for an adult to share with one or two kids. (Dinners start at $7.99). While there’s not a child’s plate on the menu, the Mi Pilon staff is more than willing to fix up small plates for the younger crowd on request. – Mary Abreu Go to Calendar Home Page – View Previous Out and About Articles |
