Spray and Splash Water Park
and Playground
Whitesburg
by Leigh Knight
Get
wet, don’t sweat! McIntosh Reserve’s Spray and Slash
water park and playground, located 35 miles
southwest of Atlanta in Whitesburg, provides a cool
oasis from the summer’s sweltering heat. A soft
rubberized surface covers the approximate
400-square-foot Spray and Slash area, making slips
and falls safe and even fun for little ones. Water
spouts overhead from sprinklers shaped like giant
mushrooms, creating a flowing stream for children to
splash in. The chemical-free water is supplied by a
spring-fed holding pond and circulates through a
large sand filter before being sprayed and returned
to the pond.
Children love climbing up, over
and through tunnels, sliding down small hills, and
watching their toys float merrily down the stream.
Parents can stay close and dry, if desired, at one
of the tiki hut shelters on the concrete walkway
surrounding the Spray and Splash area. When children
become waterlogged, they can seek dry land at the
playground adjacent to the water park. After
climbing, sliding and monkey bars, they’ll want to
dig in the sand. Don’t worry – one last run around
Spray and Splash will take care of those sandy feet
before the ride home.
