Summer Get Wet Attraction and Water Park Guide Skull Island at Six Flags Over Georgia

Remember how you felt the first time you dove off the high-dive? Or the first time you opened your eyes under water? Summer is the time for your kids to make those memories. Here’s our guide for the best places in Atlanta to get wet and make memories.

Summer Water Attractions, Destinations and Events

If you’re looking to make a day out of your water fun, these Atlanta attractions are sure to cure your craving. Many of them are like taking a mini-vacation.

The Beach at Clayton County International Park

Who knew you could enjoy the beach just south of Atlanta? In Clayton County you can. There are four water slides, lakes to fish in, an adventure kiddie pool, a water trampoline and an indoor pool. The park also has hiking and biking trails, as well as picnic areas for a full day of outdoor fun.

Featuring Georgia’s largest wave pool, a sandy white beach and the famous "FunDunker" with 101 ways to get wet, what’s not to love? The thrill seekers in your family will love the "Intimidator," the "Twister" and the "Triple Threat," and your little ones will enjoy the "Kiddie Lagoon" and the "Wiggle Waves."

Callaway Gardens recently added the "Iceberg Island Floating Water Playground" to their already established beach area. It is a 14-foot iceberg that lies above the water. Kids 6 and older can climb it, play on the trampolines, and enjoy the aqua totters and slides for $5/hour/child.

This is the world’s largest interactive water structure located in a theme park. It has six water slides, three climbable towers that can soak passersby with a variety of water blasters, sprayers, fountains, jets, water wheels and pumps.

Take advantage of the beaches and four waterslides at Stone Mountain Park. If you’re looking to take it easy, simply hang out by the lake. Either option gives you great views of the famous granite exposure and a guaranteed fun day for the family.

Sun Valley Beach

Known as the largest pool in the Southeast, everyone is bound to have fun here. It has 10 waterslides, a dolphin fountain, showering umbrella, a Lumber Jack log roll, diving platforms, Tarzan swinging ropes and a zip line. Sun Valley Beach also offers a playground area, rental pavilions, picnic areas, grills and a concession stand.

Come hang out at the biggest water park in Georgia. Try the "Cliffhanger," one of the world’s longest freefalls, or the "Tornado," which has won several awards. If you feel more like relaxing, take a spin around the "Little Hooch." Whatever the case, your family will love it here.

Summer Water Parks, Pools and Activities

There are many great aquatic centers and water parks in Atlanta, but don’t forget about the pools that are located right in your city. Being a member at these pools will get you more involved with your community, and will allow your children to make new friends. The Alpharetta City Pool, Dacula Pool and the Roswell Area Park are wonderful places for families to swim. To find a pool in your city, visit their parks and recreation website. Some cities have gone above and beyond the call of duty and created slides, play structures, lazy rivers and more. With all these cool features they’re pretty much mini water parks. Here’s a list to get you started:

Bogan Park Aquatic Center

This indoor aquatic center is ideal for a rainy day. It features a competition pool, interactive play structures, a lazy river and a water slide. The zero depth leisure pool is a great environment to help your toddler feel comfortable with the water, while older kids will enjoy getting one another wet or participating in a friendly race.

This indoor/outdoor center is entertaining for kids of all ages. Everyone will enjoy splashing around with the interactive water features and squirt guns, while the toddler pool and lazy river will help mom and dad relax.

The Mountain Park Aquatic Center and Activity Building in Stone Mountain offers a lot to do for families. With an outdoor pool, a warm water pool and lap pools swimmers of all levels can find their niche. Or you can relax on the lazy river and take an exciting ride through the vortex for some water fun your family is sure to enjoy.

A sandy beach (open until dark) and pavilions are available for a small fee. Come and enjoy some time on a boat or just hanging out in the sun. There are also trails, fishing and a mini golf course at the park.

Rhodes Jordan Aquatic Center

Enjoy the lazy river or get active by exploring the Lily Pad Bridge and 21-foot water slide. With these special features and family swim in the leisure pool, this aquatic center is sure to please the whole family.

Your entire family can enjoy the U-shaped pool at this aquatic center. Take your little ones to the shallow end while your older kids enjoy the diving well, or engage them all in a race in the lap area.
