Peachtree DeKalb Airport Playground
Chamblee

Not many playgrounds allow you to experience the excitement of planes and helicopters. At Peachtree DeKalb Airport’s newly renovated playground and park you can do just that and more.

The “PDK II” playground is set up like a miniature version of the airport. Kids can control the runway from the mini control tower to riding mini plane bouncers as they watch the real planes take off and land. There are two talk tubes that run from the play control tower out to the playground runway. Swings, zany zipper arch, panel climber, parallel bars, pilot control steering wheels, and an educational map of the United States are some of the activities that will keep your kids occupied.

Soft bark chips fill in the playground area in addition to grassy areas. Restrooms and tables are available at the hangar pavilion, and a water fountain is located in the administration building. The playground is at the Peachtree DeKalb Airport at 2000 Airport Road. For more information, visit www.pdkairport.org.            – Laura White
